Vintage Nigde Kilim Rug 211 x 133 cm - Paris 7th

A red carpet and a kilim laid at an angle, not an obvious choice. And yet, in this client's apartment in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, it works beautifully. This vintage Nigde kilim, hand-woven some 65 years ago in Central Anatolia, holds its own against the red carpet without ever blending in or disappearing. Its stars and medallions in burnt orange, red and golden ochre follow one another with that generosity particular to kilims of the region, a true vintage kilim is afraid of no background.
