The selection of kilims

A selection based on expertise and consistency

For over 30 years, Enbiya, originally from Cappadocia (Turkey), has been involved in the world of kilims and Oriental rugs. Based on in- depth knowledge of local markets , production regions, and styles, her selection relies on rigorous work carried out with specialized local wholesalers , renowned for their reliability and high standards.

This sourcing method allows:

  • to access a wide range of authentic pieces
  • to guarantee clear traceability of origins
  • to maintain stylistic and qualitative consistency
  • to offer kilims faithful to their regional traditions

Each piece is chosen individually , according to precise criteria, before being included in the Anatolie Kilim collection.

Our selection criteria

Before being added to a collection, each kilim is evaluated according to several criteria:

  • Authenticity of the weave : only handwoven kilims
  • Material quality : natural wool, durable and resistant
  • State of preservation (for the older pieces): harmonious patina, without excessive deterioration
  • Aesthetic appeal : balance of patterns, consistency of colors
  • Regional identity : each piece must clearly reflect its origin

Old kilims & recent kilims: a clear distinction

Our collection is structured around two main categories:

Ancient kilims from Anatolia

Woven in the 20th century, often between the 1950s and 1970s, these kilims come exclusively from the major regions of Anatolia (present-day Türkiye).
They bear witness to traditional know-how, ancestral techniques and a strong regional identity.

Recent kilims from Afghanistan

The contemporary kilims in our selection come from Afghanistan.
They are made using traditional techniques, but with a more modern approach, both in terms of formats and color palettes.

From the selection to your interior

Once selected, the kilims are:

  • cleaned carefully
  • measured precisely
  • faithfully photographed
  • documented with transparency

Each product description indicates:

  • the origin
  • estimated age
  • the exact dimensions
  • recommended use

Our goal is simple: to allow you to choose a kilim with complete confidence , knowing its history, origin and character.

A unique piece, full of meaning

A kilim is not just a rug. It is a decorative, cultural and living object, designed to last and become part of everyday life.

At Anatolie Kilim, each piece is carefully chosen for what it is:
unique, authentic, full of history and deeply connected to its territory.

The major regions of the ancient kilim of Anatolia

Each antique kilim we offer is deeply connected to its region of origin.
Understanding these regions allows us to better understand the soul of each piece.

Adana & Southern Anatolia

Adana kilims are distinguished by:

  • warm colors ( reds, oranges, ochres)
  • balanced geometric patterns
  • high visual readability

They were often intended for everyday domestic use and today exhibit a highly prized patina.

Manisa & Western Anatolia

Manisa's kilims offer more understated and structured compositions , with:

  • elegant contrasts
  • repetitive patterns
  • a palette that is often softer

They fit particularly well into contemporary interiors.

Sivrihisar, Sihli, Esme, Kayseri

These regions of Central Anatolia are renowned for:

  • the fineness of the weave
  • the rigor of the patterns
  • a wide variety of formats

Kilims from these areas are often very balanced, both visually and symbolically.

Yesilova, Yozgat, Sarkisla

These regions include:

  • more expressive tribal patterns
  • compositions that are sometimes asymmetrical
  • a strong cultural identity

These kilims tell a more raw, more spontaneous story, and possess a very distinctive character.

Recent kilims from Afghanistan

Contemporary Afghan kilims are selected for:

  • the quality of their wool
  • the regularity of the weaving
  • their deep and natural tones

They often feature:

  • earthy pallets
  • straightforward geometries
  • an aesthetic that is both traditional and modern

These pieces are ideal for those looking for a new kilim, while retaining the spirit and authenticity of the kilim art.
