Five rectangular panels follow one another across these 398 x 117 cm (13'1" × 3'10") like the pages of a book one would read while walking, each framed within its own borders, each carrying a different composition of floral and geometric motifs on grounds that vary from deep bordeaux to vivid orange by way of powder pink.
Kayseri, Central Anatolia, approximately 65 years old. This panel structure is rare in the kilim tradition, it betrays a weaver who conceived her work as an architecture, each space mastered, each transition owned. The lateral borders in large orange and black sawtooth frame the whole with an energy that contrasts magnificently with the patinated softness of the interior panels.
