Adana, South-Eastern Anatolia, 65 years old. Within its 170 x 110 cm (5'7" × 3'7"), this kilim unfolds large hexagons on a sand and ivory ground that time has rendered almost luminous. The brick red and bordeaux that trace their outlines have patinated with a rare softness.
That river running all the way around, one of the oldest motifs of all, which the weavers of Anatolia wove to let life circulate freely so that nothing would ever be enclosed. Water calls forth life. And life, here, still flows.
