Adana usually produces deep reds and dense geometries. This one chose another path. Within these 250 x 153 cm (8'2" × 5'0"), woven on a nomadic loom some 65 years ago, horizontal bands follow one another in an unexpected palette, khaki green, bordeaux, orange, bluish grey, yellow, lavender, each different from the last, as though the weaver had decided to change colour every time a new thought crossed her mind.
The two panels sewn together reveal slight variations in tone from one side to the other, proof that each vegetable dye bath was unique, never reproduced. It is this controlled unpredictability that makes this piece something one will find nowhere else.
