Adana, South-Eastern Anatolia, 65 years old. Within its 270 x 218 cm (8'10" × 7'2"), almost square, this kilim commands a presence that few pieces possess. Its large coral red field, woven in two panels sewn together according to nomadic tradition, carries the slight variations in tone inherent to distinct vegetable dye baths, those nuances imperceptible at first glance, and impossible to ignore once one has seen them.
At its centre, a golden star, alone, calm, as though it had always been there.
