Akviran, Central Anatolia, approximately 65 years old. Across 343 x 246 cm (11'3" × 8'1"), two large columns of panels organise themselves side by side, each framed with multicoloured hexagons that teem with an almost vertiginous energy. Orange and anise green on one side, royal blue and saffron yellow on the other, like two narratives unfolding in parallel without ever merging.
Woven in two panels sewn together whose slight variations in tone bear witness to two distinct moments of dyeing, two vegetable dye baths that were never exactly the same. At this size and in such condition, this is the kind of exceptional piece one no longer finds.
