Black and cream, nothing more, and yet everything is there. Within these 202 x 158 cm (6'8" × 5'2"), horizontal black bands interrupt themselves, shift, resume elsewhere, creating an asymmetric composition that resembles a jazz score rendered in wool. Each line follows its own logic and the whole finds its balance nonetheless.
This is the kind of piece that imposes itself in an interior without needing colour. Woven by hand in natural wool in north-western Afghanistan, it carries in its imperceptible irregularities everything that no printer, no automated loom, has ever known how to reproduce.
