Red occupies the centre of these 300 x 200 cm (9'10" × 6'7") like something self-evident. Around it, powdery mauve spreads in broad, tranquil expanses, punctuated by bands of saffron yellow, anise green, sky blue and black that surface at irregular intervals, like notes in a score one would read from top to bottom.
What distinguishes this piece is its softness. Where other contemporary compositions play on tension and contrast, this one breathes. The colours coexist without clashing, the hand-woven Afghan natural wool softens every transition, and the small white and golden commas scattered across the central red add a detail one only sees up close.
