Some pieces need no explanation. This orange, pure and sovereign, occupying almost the entire surface of these 268 x 142 cm (8'10" × 4'8"), held by two blue-grey bands that contain it without ever extinguishing it, with a hint of bordeaux that disappears into the upper corner like a final thought before silence.
Woven by hand in Balikesir some 60 years ago, in an almost square format oriented horizontally, rare in the Anatolian tradition. One does not place this kilim in a space, one organises the space around it.
