Barak, South-Eastern Anatolia, 55 years old. Woven in natural wool with vegetable dyes, this 135 x 110 cm (4'5" × 3'7") kilim chose a palette few would have dared: peach, sand and powder pink, with fine-outlined diamonds that repeat with an almost airy lightness. The vegetable dyes have given these colours a softness that belongs to them alone.
