Camardi, in the highlands of Central Anatolia, is a region of nomadic tradition where kilims were woven to withstand harsh winters and long migrations. The wool there is thick, the weave tight, the vegetable dyes muted, as though nature itself had chosen the colours.
Woven some 65 years ago, this 220 x 158 cm (7'3" × 5'2") kilim carries that heritage with a quiet self-evidence. Its large diamond medallions in moss green, bordeaux and blue-grey compose a palette one finds nowhere else, and that time has deepened still further.
