Denizli, Western Anatolia, approximately 65 years old. The bands in this 112 x 108 cm (3'8" × 3'7") kilim do not run straight. They ripple, overlap, dissolve into one another, sage green, peach orange, golden yellow, vivid red, lavender gray with a black band cutting through like a fault line in rock.

A weaver who refused straightness. The small embroidered motifs that appear here and there seem scattered in passing, like thoughts jotted down along the way without quite knowing why. This piece resembles nothing else.
