Vintage Denizli kilim rug - 288 x 168 cm

Some 60 years of patience in this large Denizli kilim. At the centre, two columns of hexagons rise against a deep red, and each one shelters a small hourglass, that sign which speaks of the balance of opposites, two forces held within a single gesture.

Around them, the border changes rhythm: a round of hooks, each a different colour, chaining together like a farandole and catching happiness in passing. At the very bottom right, a tiny sign of white lines slips into the corner, like a word left by the weaver before cutting the thread. A red that celebrates, hooks that hold joy in place.
