Eregli, Central Anatolia, 60 years old. Within its 220 x 143 cm (7'3" × 4'8"), two large diamond medallions face one another, each carrying at its heart an unexpected touch of almond green, luminous, like a breath in the middle of the red. The lavender border that frames the whole is rare for a kilim of this region, it softens without erasing, it holds without constraining.
Between the two medallions, a constellation of small secondary motifs occupies the space with discretion, like voices speaking quietly around a larger conversation.
