Kayseri. A city of Central Anatolia that carpet merchants have known for centuries. This kilim woven some 60 years ago carries within it everything this region knows how to do: a rigour in the composition, three square medallions that lock into one another with a goldsmith's precision, and that deep red which does not seek to please but always ends up convincing.
In the borders, small stylised flowers run discreetly, as though the weaver had wanted to slip a little softness into all that structure. Its 240 x 115 cm (7'10" × 3'9") have the density and character of those that have nothing to prove.
