Kayseri, at the foot of Mount Erciyes in Central Anatolia, has been one of the great kilim cities for centuries. Woven by hand in natural wool some 60 years ago, this 148 x 100 cm (4'10" × 3'3") kilim carries the full rigour of that tradition. Its rectangular bordeaux and golden ochre panels lock into one another with a goldsmith's precision, each carrying its own geometric medallions, the whole surrounded by a dense border that leaves nothing to chance.
A kilim with the quiet solidity of those that have nothing to prove.
