Three large hexagonal medallions follow one another across these 260 x 145 cm (8'6" × 4'9") like three chambers of the same palace, each closed upon itself, each keeping its own secret within a heart of brown and black that lavender pink and vivid orange encircle on all sides.
Kayseri has always been a centre, a crossroads city where influences met and transformed one another. One feels this in the kilim woven some 65 years ago, in this way of marrying colours one would not have expected together, mauve and burnt orange, khaki and vivid red, with a sureness that cannot be learned but is transmitted, from generation to generation, in the silence of the loom.
