Contemporary Maimana kilim rug - 92 × 59 cm

An Afghan kilim that offers itself in mirror, two diamond medallions stacked like two echoes of the same motif, each enclosing a saffron yellow and pink heart, ringed with deep red and slate blue. The lilac ground, rare in this palette, gives the whole a softness almost unexpected for the Maimana style.

The entire perimeter vibrates with green and cream triangles, then a lilac border where orange and pale blue motifs undulate, like a wave that would never cease running. A hand-woven piece, resolutely contemporary, with the same exigence as the most ancient ones.
