Malatya, on the eastern edges of Anatolia, produces kilims of almost architectural symmetry. Woven by hand in natural wool some 65 years ago, this 280 x 180 cm (9'2" × 5'11") kilim chose audacity.
Its large orange, vivid pink and yellow hexagons press against one another across its surface, each carrying its own colours, its own interior motifs, like so many paintings within the painting. A rare generosity, owned through to the very last thread.
