This Manisa kilim is almost square (132 x 130 cm / 4'4" × 4'3"), a rare proportion that gives it a particular presence. Woven in western Anatolia some 60 years ago, its horizontal bands teem with small ear-of-wheat motifs that run from one end to the other like a harvest put in order.
Orange, red, khaki green, ochre, colours of earth and autumn leaves that have ripened together with a great deal of grace.
