Nigde, Central Anatolia, 65 years old. Within its 211 x 133 cm (6'11" × 4'4"), this kilim does not choose between burnt orange, red and golden ochre. It takes all of them, layers them, sets them vibrating together with a generosity that belongs only to the kilims of this region. Stars and medallions follow one another without pause, and yet nothing overflows. The weaver knew exactly what she was doing.
