This Obruk kilim, woven at the heart of Anatolia some 65 years ago, chose a palette of undergrowth and wet earth. Within its 200 x 143 cm (6'7" × 4'8"), khaki green and deep bordeaux hold one another with an almost wintry restraint, which the cream borders lighten without betraying. The central arch structures the whole like a spine, and the eye follows that path naturally without quite knowing why.
