Vintage Ordu kilim rug - 220 x 170 cm

In two corners, first names have been woven into the wool itself: Selim on one side, Fatma on the other. Who were they? The kilim keeps the secret, but the hand that inscribed them wanted them to remain.

Around them, twelve diamonds align across a terracotta that deepens in bands, like a field when the light turns. Each one is cut in two, orange against pink, sage against shadow, two halves that accord without ever resembling one another. A kilim from Ordu, on the shores of the Black Sea, where names were woven so that the story would not fade.
