Four large hexagonal medallions descend in column across these 240 x 113 cm (7'10" × 3'8"), set upon a deep red ground like four moons of different colours, cream, blue-grey, anthracite, cream again, each carrying at its centre a constellation of small symmetrical motifs woven with a goldsmith's precision.
Şarkışla, between Central and Eastern Anatolia, approximately 65 years old. There is in this piece that quiet generosity of kilims that had no need to justify themselves, a sage green border that frames everything with softness, small scattered motifs on the red ground that breathe around the medallions like details one discovers long after.
