Vintage Sivas kilim rug - 98 x 58 cm

This Sivas kilim repeats, column after column, the same cross motif edged with bordeaux hooks, like a continuous embroidery that never stops across its 98 x 58 cm (3'3" × 1'11"). Around each cross, olive green, ochre and pink diamonds layer in gradation, creating an effect of mosaic almost textile within the textile, woven some 65 years ago.

Nothing here is left at rest, every diamond carries its own small cross or hook, in a density of motifs that demands a sure craft and an infallible memory of the design. A vibrating kilim, made for those who like every glance to find a new detail.
