This Yesilova kilim has something spellbinding about it. At the centre of these 230 x 140 cm (7'7" × 4'7"), a column of grey and orange arabesques chains together like a labyrinth one wants to follow with the eye to its very end, ringed with vivid red, set within a deep black border that anise yellow and solar orange medallions illuminate like lanterns in the night.
Woven by hand some 60 years ago on the border between Western Anatolia and the Mediterranean, this piece carries within it two souls that found one another in the wool and never wished to part.
