A column of cream, saffron yellow, brown and midnight blue diamonds descends the full height of these 288 x 78 cm (9'5" × 2'7"), framed by two terracotta banks that undulate gently under the effect of the abrash, as though the wool had retained the memory of each distinct dye bath.

Yozgat, Central Anatolia, approximately 65 years old. The composition is of an almost graphic clarity, and yet nothing is mechanical. Each diamond carries its own colour, never identical to the one before, in a progression that shifts imperceptibly from top to bottom. This is a corridor that deserves one's time.
