The Cicim is a technique apart in the world of the kilim. The motif is embroidered onto the base weave, creating a discreet relief that shifts with the light, with the hour, with the angle of the eye.
Woven by hand in natural wool some 55 years ago, this small 88 x 46 cm (2'11" × 1'6") format concentrates all of that complexity onto a reduced surface. A striated rose ground, large diamond medallions in sun yellow and anise green, embroidered orange motifs that catch the light with a vitality the years have not extinguished.
