Denizli, Western Anatolia. These 270 x 61 cm (8'10" × 2'0") unroll a succession of horizontal bands in a luminous Mediterranean palette, salmon pink, vivid orange, saffron yellow, blue-grey, punctuated by three star medallions at regular intervals like landmarks on a journey.
Each medallion differs from the last in its interior colours, cream and black for the first, bordeaux and white for the second, ochre and anthracite for the third. The weaver sowed variations all along the way, as though to remind us that one never crosses the same space twice in the same way.
