This kilim from Cal, in western Anatolia, was woven some 70 years ago by hands that had known wool since childhood. Its 265 x 180 cm (8'8" × 5'11") unfold a constellation of brightly coloured diamonds, orange, red, blue, green, that could have contradicted one another and instead fall into agreement with a disconcerting freedom. Time has dissolved what was too vivid, and only what matters remains.
A kilim that inhabits a room without seeking to dominate it.
