This Adana Cicim brings together two crafts. The flat structure of the Anatolian kilim and the Cicim embroidery that enriches the surface with motifs in relief, shifting with the light, shifting with the angle of the eye.
Woven by hand in natural wool some 60 years ago, its 120 x 90 cm (3'11" × 2'11") unfold concentric diamonds in powder pink and almond green on an ivory ground of a rare softness. The fine black embroidered border that frames the whole holds everything together with a goldsmith's precision.
